Jai on single status and nude scenes
It’s not all fast cars, women and hot tubs for Hollywood star Jai Courtney, who had to have his private parts glued for a nude scene in Terminator Genisys.
“There’s free wax jobs at the end of the day,” he said.
The WAAPA-trained actor, who is in Sydney to promote the $US170 million ($222 million) reboot of the Terminator franchise, said going naked in the film was a lot less glamorous than it might look in the end result.
“There’s a few little apparatuses ... a flesh- coloured thing, there’s a cock sock,” he told Kiis 1065’s Kyle and Jackie O show yesterday. “There’s a lot of glue and things to keep things where they need to be.”
Courtney is fast becoming a Hollywood heavyweight and is about to head to Canada to film Suicide Squad, the comic-book movie with an all-star cast including Margot Robbie, Will Smith and a green-haired Joker played by Jared Leto.
But he insists actors such as he and Aussie compatriot Joel Edgerton are still only paid the “medium bucks”.
“I’m doing some theatre later in the year,” Courtney said, referring to his appearance in the play Of Mice and Men at Perth’s Heath Ledger Theatre in December.
“I haven’t sold out yet — I mean I sell out every now and then but I try to keep my foot in the creative ponds enough to maintain some integrity.”
And despite being linked to his Terminator co-star Emilia Clarke, Courtney confirmed that he was single.
Asked by radio host Jackie O whether he had a girlfriend, the 29-year-old actor hit back: “No, I don’t ... your research is like three months old.”
